One Eye Vision centre is functioning at Edathode in Kasargode District mainly with the aim of extending free treatment to common people of the hilly area especially to the tribal people. Our doctors and para medical staff visit the centre once in a month and examine the patients. The patient who require detailed examination and treatment are transported to our hospital.
The Hospital conducts regular free eye screening camps on all Sundays and National Holidays in various centres in the rural areas of Kannur and Kasargod districts as well as in the hospital, with the co-operation of District Blindness Control Society, local clubs, NGOs and service organizations LIKE Lions Clubs etc. The patients with minor ailments are treated at the campsite itself. Those who require cataract surgery are advised to report at the hospital.
These patients are operated free of cost with the implantation of Intra Ocular Lenses (IOLs) and all the expenses viz. boarding, bed charges, medicines etc. are born by the hospital. Spectacles prescribed to the patients at the eye screening camps and also at the hospital are provided at very nominal cost. During this short period we had conducted 326 eye screening camps and examined more than sixty thousand patients.
The trust is giving much emphasis on timely detection and treatment of eye disorders among the children. This program has a very significant objective, since the defective vision or partial blindness in children will seriously affect their educational carrier.
This program has been implemented in Kannur and Kasargode districts. So far we have examined more than 6000 school childrens and provided necessary treatments. SFK (Site for Kids) program sponsored by various Lions Clubs are being implemented in our hospital.
Various Health Insurance Schemes like RSBY, AB-PMJAY(Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, MEDISEP (Medical Insurance Scheme for State Employees and Pensioners, etc are being successfully implemented by the hospital. This hospital is empanelled under BSNL Employees Medical Reimbursement Scheme for treatment of BSNL Employees , Retired employees and their family members.
